Reiki is a traditional form of healing from Japan, which involves the practitioner placing his/her hands on or holding his/her hands above parts of the client’s body, so that their energy or “chi” comes into balance. This stimulates the self-healing ability of the client, through which you will feel a deep relaxation on physical, emotional and mental levels.
Reiki can be used for different goals such as relaxation or awareness. It also can be used to heal illness and emotional complaints. Furthermore Reiki can be used as a complementary treatment to other therapies. I often used it while doing craniosacral therapy, but it can also perfectly be used next to regular therapy. Reiki doesn’t have any side effects.
After completing a number of Reiki courses in the Netherlands, I subsequently trained with a Reiki master and Zen monk in Kyoto, Japan. This opened up the whole history of the healing form to me and led to a greater awareness of the wisdom behind Reiki.
